Troubleshooting HPRT Printers via Manual Self-Test

To confirm if the printer is experiencing a physical hardware issue or a software issue, you can run a hardware self-test directly on the device. This prints a configuration sheet containing the current firmware version, interface setting (like the IP address), and character fonts.

Follow these steps to run a self-test on the HPRT TP80K:

Steps to Run a Self-Test

  1. Turn off the printer using the power switch on the side.
  2. Ensure a thermal paper roll is correctly loaded and top cover is firmly clicked shut.
  3. Press and old down the FEED button on the front panel.
  4. While holding the FEED button for about 2 to 3 seconds until the printer starts printing then release it.

Troubleshooting the Output

  • Prints successfully with clear text: Your printer hardware, thermal head, and paper orientation are completely fine. The bank printing issue is entirely caused by your computer's driver settings, port selection, or POS software.
  • Feeds completely blank paper: The thermal paper roll is loaded upside down. Open the cover and flip the roll so the paper pulls from the bottom/front, ensuring the thermal coated side faces the print head.
